Senior Software Engineer - SaaS Infrastructure
Quick Summary
you’ll write Go running on Kubernetes, manage state in PostgreSQL, and provision infrastructure with Terraform across multiple public clouds.
Responsibilities
~1 min readThe AI Dev Platform Tooling team builds and operates the SaaS platform that lets our engineers ship software quickly, reliably, and safely. We own the deployment automation, infrastructure provisioning and monitoring, and release systems — built on a Go, Kubernetes, Terraform, and PostgreSQL stack — that underpin our engineering organization’s ability to deliver software to customers across GCP, AWS, Azure.
About the Role
~2 min readWe are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate the backend services and APIs at the core of our SaaS infrastructure. This is primarily a backend software engineering role: you’ll write Go running on Kubernetes, manage state in PostgreSQL, and provision infrastructure with Terraform across multiple public clouds. You’ll evolve designs to meet increasingly challenging scale, stability, and performance demands, and own large, ambiguous problems end to end. We care deeply about a sustainable on-call culture, so you’ll participate in on-call rotations while championing the architecture that reduces on-call burden over time.
In this role, you will:
- Design, build, deploy, and operate critical backend services and APIs that power our SaaS infrastructure across AWS, GCP, Azure, and customer-managed environments.
- Treat API design as a first-class concern, defining clean, durable interfaces that internal and external consumers depend on.
- Evolve system designs to meet increasingly challenging scale, stability, and performance requirements.
- Break down and solve large, ambiguous problems, turning them into well-scoped, shippable engineering work.
- Reduce on-call burden through better architecture, automation, and observability — and participate in on-call rotations.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship, work alongside Principal Engineers, and influence the broader technical direction of the platform.
- Contribute to frontend web clients where it accelerates the team (a plus, not a requirement).
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, deploying, and operating critical backend services across a large enterprise.
- Deep, hands-on expertise with our core stack: Go, Kubernetes, Terraform, and PostgreSQL.
- Deep experience with one or more major public clouds (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Strong API design skills, with a track record of building interfaces that scale and last.
- Proven ability to evolve designs to meet increasingly challenging scale, stability, and performance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to break down and solve large, ambiguous problems.
- Comfortable owning on-call for services you build, and passionate about reducing on-call burden through architecture.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership to team members, work effectively with Principal Engineers, influence technical direction, and contribute to the success of cross-functional stakeholders.
Nice to Have
~1 min read- Experience building and operating SaaS products.
- Experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.) and monitoring/observability tooling (Prometheus, Datadog, etc.).
