Cormac are looking to recruit for a Civil Chargehand 3. This role is an important role of our organisation where you will organise, manage, control and undertake specialist (manual) civil engineering tasks in the construction delivery of structural concreting and reinforcement, skilled masonry and bridge structures or specialist machine paver operation working to specific levels.    

You will be working for both public and private sector clients, CORMAC concentrates on developing an effective integrated multi-service delivery model offering start-to-end services. CORMAC is a collective of a diverse range of services including maintenance, construction, management, technical, supply and support services working across the environmental, infrastructure, highways, facilities management, consultancy and fleet sectors.

Some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • Carry out a wide range of manual civil engineering and construction tasks requiring significant technical expertise and practical skills. 

  • Supervise teams undertaking varied civil engineering and construction activities that demand advanced technical knowledge and experience. 

  • Maintain the safety of yourself, colleagues, and members of the public at all times. 

  • Ensure the safety of co-workers by following and enforcing appropriate safety procedures. 

  • Take responsibility for halting work and challenging any unsafe practices immediately. 

  • Deliver daily pre-start briefings to site personnel. 

  • Verify that all required training certificates, cards, and licences are current and valid for the tasks being undertaken. 

  • Ensure all records and reports are completed accurately and submitted on time. 

  • Drive and operate vehicles and plant equipment as required.

About you

We are looking for you to bring:

  • CITB Health and Safety qualification
  • CSCS Registration 
  • NVQ level 2 related subject and/or equivalent experience
  • Full driving license
