CPI Security is hiring a Product Specialist – Security, Video, Fire and Access Control Solutions, based at our office in Charlotte, North Carolina, to support the evaluation, testing, documentation, and rollout of intrusion, video, fire, and access control solutions for CPI’s residential and commercial product portfolio.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will work with the Product Team, Operations, manufacturers, and service providers to test, validate, and support security products and related technologies. This position is hands-on and operational, focused on ensuring CPI delivers reliable, high-quality solutions for both residential and commercial customers.

You will assist with product testing, beta programs, field feedback, documentation, training support, and issue resolution for intrusion, video, fire, and access control solutions, including connected technologies such as IP networking, cloud-based platforms, SaaS tools, IoT devices, video analytics, and cybersecurity-related product requirements.

  • Test and evaluate new and existing intrusion, video, fire, and access control products, features, hardware, software, and integrations.
  • Support beta programs, product pilots, and field trials with internal teams, manufacturers, and service providers.
  • Document product performance, installation requirements, troubleshooting steps, known issues, and recommended best practices.
  • Assist with technical documentation, solution diagrams, training materials, SOPs, and support resources.
  • Work with Operations, QA, Technical Support, Sales, and customers to troubleshoot and resolve escalated product issues.
  • Gather feedback from field teams and customers to identify product improvements and support recommendations.
  • Help validate product and service performance requirements for quality assurance.
  • Support product launches by assisting with testing, training readiness, internal communications, and operational preparation.
  • Assist with identifying required test equipment, installation tools, demonstration equipment, and support materials.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant installation standards, product requirements, cybersecurity considerations, and data privacy/security frameworks.
  • Support trade show, sales demonstration, and product lab setup, configuration, and testing as needed.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience specifying, designing, installing, servicing, testing, or supporting residential or commercial intrusion, video, fire, or access control technologies.
  • Knowledge of intrusion, fire/NFPA, video, access control, electronics, and National Electrical Code standards.
  • Experience with video solutions, IP networking, video monitoring, analytics, cloud-connected devices, SaaS platforms, or IoT technologies.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and compliance frameworks such as NIST, CCPA, or similar standards preferred.
  • NICET, ESA, or equivalent certification in Fire, Intrusion, Access Control, or Video preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and collaborate across Operations, Product, Sales, Support, and external partners.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com preferred.
  • Must be able to work on-site at CPI’s Charlotte office and travel as needed.
