The successful candidate is adaptable in a fast-paced environment, able to respond effectively to changing priorities, and driven by a genuine curiosity to understand systems, processes, and how they can be improved.\r\n\r\n\r\nNote: The candidate must have the ability to be able to travel to New Britain and Hartford one to two days per week as business needs require.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPOSITION HIGHLIGHTS\r\n\r\n\r\n This position is full-time, following a first shift schedule, Monday - Friday, and 40 hours per week with the potential for telework.\r\n As a Data Strategy Advisor, from market design to energy program and procurement analysis, your job will be to ensure that DEEP energy and technology data is streamlined, clear, and effective.\r\n\r\n\r\nReporting directly to the Deputy Commissioner for Energy at DEEP, you will:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Manage all presentations and analyses shared with the Governor’s office, the legislature, and other critical stakeholders;\r\n Build data sets that can be leveraged for policy analysis and recommendations;\r\n Create graphics and presentations that simplify extremely complex energy concepts and data;\r\n Identify opportunities for internal process improvement;\r\n Draft strategic communications documents for internal and external audiences;\r\n Manage external consultants to develop high quality work products; and\r\n\r\nYour role, will be to ensure that the great work of BETP makes the biggest impact possible.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n ABOUT US�\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is charged with conserving, improving and protecting the natural resources and the environment of the state of Connecticut as well as making cheaper, cleaner and more reliable energy available for the people and businesses of the state. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
Acts as an executive assistant to a state elective officer or department head as defined in Section 4-5 of the Connecticut General Statutes and performs such duties as are assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
\r\n Manage all presentations and analyses shared with the Governor’s office, the legislature, and other critical stakeholders;\r\n Build data sets that can be leveraged for policy analysis and recommendations;\r\n Create graphics and presentations that simplify extremely complex energy concepts and data;\r\n Identify opportunities for internal process improvement;\r\n Draft strategic communications documents for internal and external audiences;\r\n Manage external consultants to develop high quality work products; and\r\n Perform related duties as required.\r\n\r\n
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n\r\n 3+ years of work experience, with a combination of advanced modeling and presentation skills;\r\n Strong analytical skills and attention to detail;\r\n Experience working cross-functionally, both within an organization and with external partners;\r\n Experience working in policy (government or otherwise);\r\n Experience working on energy issues;\r\n Experience with advanced data analysis tools (Stata, PowerBI, Python, etc.);\r\n Ability to travel to Hartford 1-2 days a week; and\r\n Ability to commute to New Britain, CT once a week.\r\n\r\n\r\n
