The ideal candidate brings strong content knowledge in high school English curricula along with a thoughtful, student-centered approach to planning, instruction, and assessment. This role requires intentional lesson design that meets diverse learning needs through differentiation, collaboration with support staff, and adherence to individualized education plans.\r\nThe English Instructor will cultivate a classroom culture grounded in mutual respect, intellectual curiosity, and high expectations, while effectively managing procedures and student behavior to maximize learning opportunities. In the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System this class is accountable for educating students in academic and trade coursework.\r\n
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n Professional experiences related to the field of teaching English.\r\n Experience with 21st century standards-based lesson planning aligned to the CT Core Standards in English Language Arts.\r\n Experience with varied assessments to inform instruction and promote learning.\r\n Experience fostering and facilitating learning and classroom management.\r\n Experience communicating ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.\r\n Experience working effectively and collaboratively with others.\r\n Experience with organizational and problem solving skills.\r\n Experience in teaching or substitute teaching, varied methods of lesson delivery, assessing student knowledge, and the use of educational technology. This may include involvement in student/community activities.\r\n\r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents must possess at time of appointment a valid certificate issued by the Connecticut State Board of Education in accordance with the Certification Regulations Concerning State Educator Certificates, Permits and Authorizations, with a secondary school endorsement.\r\n
