PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency this class is accountable for acting as a working supervisor for a crew of Custodians engaged in the cleaning of buildings.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Plans crew workflow and determines priorities;�\r\n Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work;�\r\n Establishes and maintains crew procedures;�\r\n Provides staff training and assistance;�\r\n Conducts or assists in conducting performance evaluations;�\r\n Acts as liaison with operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;�\r\n Ensures supplies and equipment for crew are adequate by reporting shortages to supervisor;�\r\n Performs full range of duties as outlined in Custodian class specification;�\r\n May make recommendations on policies or standards;�\r\n May prepare reports and correspondence;�\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

\r\n Knowledge of building custodial and/or housekeeping work and related equipment;�\r\n Skills\r\n \r\n interpersonal skills;�\r\n oral and written communication skills;�\r\n \r\n \r\n Ability to\r\n \r\n operate, care for and perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment used in daily work;�\r\n utilize computer software;\r\n \r\n \r\n Supervisory ability.\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of experience in work that could reasonably be expected to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\n\r\n Experience operating and maintaining commercial custodial equipment (e.g., auto scrubbers, floor buffers, carpet extractors)\r\n Experience with floor care programs, including stripping, waxing, and refinishing floors\r\n Experience applying effective cleaning methods, selecting appropriate materials, and adhering to established safety procedures\r\n Experience assigning work, monitoring performance, and ensuring quality standards are met\r\n Experience coordinating custodial operations in a healthcare setting\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Incumbents in this class may be required by the appointing authority to possess and retain appropriate current licenses, permits and/or certifications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

\r\n\r\n Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties.\r\n A physical examination may be required.\r\n\r\n\r\n

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights and may be exposed to risk of injury from equipment and/or assaultive and/or abusive patients or clients.
