This position plays an essential role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals we support while providing clinical leadership to nursing staff and helping drive the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAs a Supervising Nurse, you will plan, organize, and direct health services across an assigned geographic area, ensuring that care and services align with established standards, goals, and objectives. You will provide clinical guidance and mentorship to nursing staff, oversee documentation and quality of care, support staff development and performance, and help ensure the resources necessary to deliver effective services are available.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nYou will also have the opportunity to shape the delivery of health care services at DDS by participating in policy and procedure development, long-range health care planning, and quality improvement efforts. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In a state agency this class is accountable for supervising nursing staff engaged in professional nursing activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Four (4) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital, regional, institutional or psychiatric setting.\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
\r\n A Bachelor’s degree in nursing may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.\r\n A Master's degree in nursing may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.\r\n\r\n
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
\r\n Experience with supervising nurses in a healthcare setting\r\n Experience providing nursing care to adults with an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability\r\n Experience working as a nurse in community and family home settings and coordinating in-home supports\r\n Experience working with private sector providers and clinicians\r\n Experience interpreting and understanding collective bargaining agreements and working collaboratively with Union representatives\r\n Experience with Department of Public Health (DPH) and Department of Developmental Services (DDS) licensing requirements\r\n Experience utilizing Microsoft Office, including but not limited to: Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams\r\n\r\n
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
\r\n Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a current license or temporary permit as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut�OR hold a Multistate or Compact Registered Nurse license.\r\n Incumbents in this class may be required to be fluent in a foreign language or proficient in the use of the American Sign Language in certain designated positions.\r\n Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.\r\n\r\n
WORKING CONDITIONS
Incumbents in this class may be required to lift and restrain individuals; may have some exposure to communicable/infectious diseases and to risk of injury from assaultive/abusive individuals; may be exposed to disagreeable conditions.\r\n
