We invite you to explore our CTECS Instructor Information webpage for more information.�\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPosition Highlights\r\n\r\n\r\n Schedule: first shift, full time (35 hours per week) Monday through Friday.\r\n Location: Bullard-Havens Technical High School, in Bridgeport, CT.\r\n Salary: VS01-VS02, derived from the State Vocational Federation of Teachers.\r\n Academic Calendar: CTECS follows a ten-month academic calendar (188 days per year.)\r\n\r\nYour Role as a Mathematics Instructor at Bullard-Havens Tech:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nPlanning and Preparation\r\n\r\n\r\n Engage in intentional planning to prepare lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, use appropriate techniques, and serve the needs of all learners in the classroom through differentiation\r\n Knowledge of Math content and pedagogy of high school Mathematics curricula\r\n Understand the varied needs of each student\r\n Work collaboratively with guidance personnel and other support service educators to assist students with special programming; ensure IEP and 504 accommodations/modifications are implemented\r\n Set instructional goals and outcomes\r\n Knowledge and use of varied instructional practices and resources\r\n Effectively design instructional learning opportunities\r\n Effectively design assessments\r\n\r\n\r\nClassroom Environment\r\n\r\n\r\n Develop mutual respect and rapport with students\r\n Establish a culture for learning\r\n Manage classroom procedures\r\n Positively manage student behavior\r\n Organize physical space to maximize learning opportunities\r\n\r\n\r\nInstruction\r\n\r\n\r\n Effectively communicate with students\r\n Effectively use questioning and discussion techniques\r\n Keep students intellectually engaged\r\n Follow the scope and sequence of the approved CTECS instructional program and curriculum\r\n Design instruction to meet the needs of all students through both individual and small group settings as needed\r\n Utilize assessments on an on-going basis to design clear and specific learning tasks\r\n Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness\r\n\r\n\r\nProfessional Responsibilities\r\n\r\n\r\n Reflect on teaching practices\r\n Maintain accurate records\r\n Maintain effective and on-going communication with students and their families\r\n Participate in building and district level professional development and collaboration. In the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System this class is accountable for educating students in academic and trade coursework.\r\n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\n\r\n Experience using 21st century standards-based lesson planning aligned to the CT Core Standards in Mathematics.\r\n Experience with varied assessments to inform instruction and promote learning.\r\n Experience with fostering and facilitating learning and classroom management.\r\n Experience delivering ideas and objectives through oral and written communication.\r\n Experience working effectively and collaboratively with others.\r\n Experience in public relations.\r\n Experience with entry-level computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Products.\r\n Experience demonstrating effective, active listening skills.\r\n Experience utilizing strong organizational and problem-solving skills.\r\n Preferred candidates will be able to demonstrate varied methods of lesson delivery, assessing student knowledge, and the use of educational technology. This may include involvement in student/community activities.\r\n\r\n\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Incumbents must possess at time of appointment a valid certificate issued by the Connecticut State Board of Education in accordance with the Certification Regulations Concerning State Educator Certificates, Permits and Authorizations, with a secondary school endorsement.\r\n
