\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe�State of Connecticut,�Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), has anticipated openings for multiple�Tourist Information Clerk (Seasonal Worker) opportunities.\r\n\r\n\r\nTHE ROLE\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Welcome Center Program is highly visible and creates the opportunity to promote tourism activities, overnight stays, attractions, dining, and cultural-related experiences directly to a targeted audience and specifically to Connecticut.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAs a Tourist Information Clerk, you will:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Promote the State of Connecticut as a vacation destination to incoming visitors;\r\n Serve as a Connecticut Ambassador and tourism spokesperson to first-time visitors;\r\n Greet walk-in visitors and provide travel information, itineraries, and directions as requested in a warm and friendly manner;\r\n Conduct customer service outreach to incoming visitors;\r\n Comply with program policy and procedure;\r\n Perform daily duties with limited supervision;\r\n Report to the Welcome Center Program Manager;\r\n Offer suggested travel itineraries to incoming visitors;\r\n Order promotional literature as needed to maintain adequate supply to effectively perform;\r\n Compile daily and weekly volume of visitor statistics and traveling trends;\r\n Sort incoming literature and organize in a user-friendly system for visitors to inquire;\r\n Contact industry members for additional copies of their promotional literature;\r\n Facilitate customer complaints regarding facility conditions and/or services;\r\n Showcase your knowledge of Microsoft software.\r\n\r\nPOSITION HIGHLIGHTS\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Incumbents must be available for the full duration of the program, which will run from May 23, 2026, through November 1, 2026.\r\n Full-time: 40 hours per week (seasonal role)\r\n Office/on-site work environment�(This position is not remote; hybrid is not available.)\r\n First shift - Centers are open 7 days per week (including holidays) from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.\r\n You will report to the Welcome Center Program Manager and share the responsibility to ensure staff coverage - up to 40 hours per week.\r\n Locations:�Danbury, CT; North Stonington, CT; Westbrook, CT; and Willington, CT\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Additional compensation is based on only one criterion. It is not intended for individuals to receive additional compensation through application of the multiple criteria listed above.\r\n
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
\r\n Assists tourists by providing information on highway directions, tourist and camping facilities, points of interest and events in state; \r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\n
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
\r\n Knowledge of\r\n \r\n principles, practices and procedures of assigned specialty;�\r\n operation of equipment, materials and activities of assigned specialty;�\r\n \r\n \r\n Knowledge to degree necessary for dealing with and understanding an individual’s behavior;\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n Skills\r\n \r\n interpersonal skills;�\r\n oral and written communication skills;\r\n techniques of assigned specialty skills;�\r\n \r\n \r\n Ability to\r\n \r\n assist individuals in self-care habits, personal hygiene and proper social conduct where applicable;�\r\n understand and carry out written orders and oral instructions;�\r\n \r\n \r\n Adequate physical strength and stamina to perform duties;�\r\n Some positions may require supervisory and/or leadership abilities.\r\n\r\n

Any experience and training that could reasonably be expected to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
\r\n Incumbents in this class assigned to recreational activities must be able to perform emergency first aid as needed and certain positions will require a current Standard First Aid Certificate.\r\n Incumbents in this class assigned as bus drivers or operators of a motor vehicle must possess and retain a current Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator License to drive a bus and/or a Motor Vehicle Operators License as necessary.\r\n Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.\r\n\r\n
