In this role, you will build and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations, including provider agencies, WIOA partner agencies, and key referral sources. You will also oversee compliance and quality assurance standards within the region, while collaborating with staff and consumers to address and resolve complex or challenging situations.\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n MORE ABOUT THE AGENCY AND BUREAU:\r\n \r\n The Mission of the Department of Aging and Disability Services (ADS) is to maximize opportunities for the independence and well-being of people with disabilities and older adults in Connecticut. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Department of Aging and Disability Services, Bureau of Rehabilitation Services this class is accountable for the administration and operation of a regional area and the local offices within the region served.\r\n

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

\r\n\r\n\r\n Plans, organizes and directs all activities in an assigned regional area coordinates programs and services of regional and local offices to provide maximum effective services to clients;�\r\n Projects budgetary, staff, and personnel requirements and needs;�\r\n Maintains contact with individuals both within and outside of the Bureau who might impact program activities;�\r\n Acts as liaison between the Bureau and referral and community agencies within the region;�\r\n Maintains existing and seeks new service and referral agencies;�\r\n Speaks before lay and professional groups;�\r\n Determines needs and provides for in-service training and staff development within the region;�\r\n Makes statistical and progress reports to central office;�\r\n Performs related duties as required.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

\r\n\r\n\r\n Considerable knowledge of\r\n \r\n current social legislation including state and federal laws, statutes and regulations pertaining to the rehabilitation of persons with disability;�\r\n agency policy and procedures;�\r\n principles, methods, procedures and current developments in administering a comprehensive vocational rehabilitation program;�\r\n \r\n \r\n Knowledge of\r\n \r\n organizations and occupational structure of modern industry;�\r\n in-service training;�\r\n community organizations and other resources available to persons with disability;�\r\n \r\n \r\n Considerable\r\n \r\n interpersonal skills;�\r\n oral and written communication skills;�\r\n \r\n \r\n Ability to utilize computer software and systems.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

A Master's degree from an accredited college with a major course of study in vocational rehabilitation, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, special education, or related behavioral or social sciences and six (6) years of experience in the vocational rehabilitation career series in a state/public vocational rehabilitation program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

\r\nThree (3) years of the General Experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.\r\nNOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of a Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor.\r\n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\n\r\n Experience in the implementation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act\r\n Experience in the implementation of policies and procedures within a state Vocational Rehabilitation program\r\n Experience applying policies, procedures and bargaining unit contracts\r\n Experience working with case management Systems\r\n Experience in Vocational Rehabilitation program evaluation and quality assurance\r\n Experience partnering with public and private agencies for the employment of individuals with disabilities\r\n Experience in the supervising of direct service staff, including performance management\r\n\r\n\r\n
