Accessible Testing Facilitator (Term Limited, 12 months)

Job Summary:

The Accessible Testing Facilitator integrates approved student testing accommodations into the administration and proctoring of examinations coordinated through the Office of Disability, Access, and Inclusion (ODAI).Working under the guidance of the Assistant Director, in coordination with the Testing Coordinator and established ODAI procedures, this position helps implement and ensure students receive approved testing accommodations, assists with exam preparation and administration, and serves as a proctor for accommodated examinations.

This role delivers accessible testing services by addressing testing-related issues that arise during examinations and coordinating timely communication among students, faculty, and ODAI staff. The position exercises independent judgement in resolving testing concerns and escalating complex accommodation, policy, procedural, or technical issues to senior ODAI staff as appropriate.

The Accessible Testing Facilitator contributes to the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of testing accommodation resources and support materials for students and faculty. The role assists in reviewing and updating testing procedures, operational guidelines, and instructional resources to promote consistency, compliance, and effective implementation of approved testing accommodations in accordance with established standards, University policies, and accessibility best practices.

This position coordinates the implementation of approved closed-captioning accommodations, including managing the AIM Video Captioning Module, monitoring captioning quality, in accordance with established accessibility standards. The role collaborates with faculty and ODAI staff to identify course materials requiring captioning and ensure timely, accurate accommodation delivery.

The position applies established university, departmental, and accessibility procedures to support the implementation of approved accommodations while developing knowledge of accommodated testing and accessibility services.

This position will work 40 hours per week on a flexible schedule as testing needs demand.  Some days may begin as early as 6:30 a.m., and some days may end as late as 7 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

30% - Test Coordinator

• Evaluates and ensures the appropriate implementation and administration of testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
• Accurately assessing, evaluating and implementing the approved testing accommodation plans in accordance with ADA requirements and University policies.
• In conjunction with and acting as a back up for the Accessible Testing Coordinator, coordinates testing space, scheduling, and proctor assignments for accommodated exams. Responds to inquiries made to the testing@cuanschutz.edu mailbox from students, faculty, and staff.
• As a back-up, manages test scheduling process including inviting students to all scheduled exams.
• Provides information regarding accommodated testing processes, addressing questions and resolving issues requiring interpretation of accommodation requirements.
• Collaborates with faculty, students, and ODAI staff to coordinate testing logistics and ensure consistent service delivery across academic programs with varying test policies.

35% - Test Administration & Proctoring

• Reviews whether sufficient testing information has been sent to ODAI by faculty to ensure all exams are properly scheduled, compliant, and administered without issues. Where insufficient information has been provided, communicates directly with faculty to obtain missing information.
• Administers exams in accordance with established testing standards and security protocols.
• Evaluates and troubleshoots testing-related concerns involving instructional technologies, accessibility tools, and accommodation implementation, determining appropriate solutions to maintain equitable access and any other testing issues as they arise in the testing software being used.
• Review students access to approved testing accommodations, immediately evaluate how to work with faculty to resolve errors.
• Monitors testing operations and provides feedback and participates in continuous improvement  efforts to enhance processes, policies, and procedures.

15% - Captioning Administration

• Independently manages the closed-captioning accommodation process in AIM.
• Determines whether existing captions meet accommodation requirements and accurately reflect course materials (including highly technical, medical terminology). This requires working closely with faculty to ensure materials have been secured and closely analyzing captions before course materials are provided to accommodated students.
• Works directly with faculty and vendors to ensure compliant accommodations are provided, including troubleshooting any technical issues that arise
• Monitors captioning service workflows and identify process gaps or delays involving instructors, learning management systems, vendors, and students, implementing solutions to improve service delivery.
• Manages the process of ensuring recorded instructional materials, lectures, PowerPoint presentations, videos, and other course content are properly captioned and compliant with accessibility requirements.
• Works with faculty to identify all instructional and supplemental video and multimedia content that requires captioning and ensures materials are entered into the appropriate system for processing.
• Coordinates the end-to-end captioning workflow, including tracking requests, managing vendor or system requirements, and returning completed captioned materials to the student and instructors for classroom use.

15% - Testing Resource Development

• Develops protocols that guide the assessment of testing accommodations for health sciences programs, along with establishing standards and guidance for effectively implementing those accommodations while proctoring tests.
• Assists with board examination support for students with testing accommodations through ODAI, including independently researching processes and creating guidance documents for students.
• Independently researches best practices for disability accommodations on health sciences campuses and provide recommendations to ODAI leadership.
• Independently develops and creates comprehensive proctoring manuals and instructions, including establishing checklists and step-by-step instructions for scheduling and proctoring tests and implementing testing accommodations, procedural resources for common troubleshooting scenarios, information specific to each program’s testing routines, and workflow documents to be used by staff who only proctor tests intermittently.

5% - Other Administrative Support

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience proctoring accommodated tests in a higher education environment.
• Experience using AIM for test management
• Experience developing accessible documentation or instructional resources using closed captioning.
• Experience providing disabilities resources or services.

Conditions of Employment:

• Must be able to work in-person on the CU Anschutz campus, often beginning before 7:00 am.
• This is a term-limited position with funding for 1 year. This appointment may be extended if additional funding is secured.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary for this position has been established as $48,625.
