About the Role
~1 min readDiscovery Rangers develop and implement diverse activities and learning experiences for visitors across various locations to foster community awareness and appreciation for conserving the state’s natural and cultural heritage. This role will focus on practical experience in interpretive and educational guiding or in delivering classroom experiences.
This hands-on, educational role will focus on conducting school holiday and leisure programs. You will also contribute to incursions/excursions for primary and secondary school groups. You will also be required to work for one week at a time from the Baranguba Montague Island Nature Reserve up to 3 times per year. This is a remote location some 9 nautical miles from Narooma on the South Coast NSW.

- Experience in education is highly valued. Demonstrated passion for geography and science, Aboriginal heritage, the Australian environment and awareness of NPWS values.
- A special skill, art ability or unique talent that you can be supported to develop into sharable learning experiences.
- A past role in environmental or cultural heritage.
Requirements
~1 min read- Current Working with Children check.
- First Aid Certificate and Current Australian Drivers Licence, or willingness to obtain.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including week-days, weekends and school holidays
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering interpretative guiding and/or educational programs to students or groups.
- Awareness of Aboriginal culture and broad knowledge of the natural and historic/ heritage values of the local area.
- Sound understanding of Risk Management, Minimal Impact and Bush Safety principles in relation to guided tours in a cultural or field setting.
