Do you want to use your science skills to help care for waterways, wetlands and the natural environment across NSW?
We are looking for an Assistant Scientist to join the Science and Insights Division in the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
About the Role
~1 min readIn this role, you will help deliver science projects and provide technical support that informs environmental management and decision-making.
You will work with senior scientists and project teams to collect, manage and analyse ecological field data, support field trips, and help prepare reports and other project information. The role includes both office-based and field-based work, and you may need to travel and stay overnight in regional areas for fieldwork. You will also work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, so clear communication and teamwork are important.
We are looking for someone with scientific qualifications and knowledge of ecology, ideally in terrestrial, wetland or restoration ecology. Experience collecting and analysing ecological field data will be highly regarded, and this role would suit someone who is organised, practical, enjoys working outdoors, and wants to build their career while contributing to important science work in the Science and Insights Division.
Requirements
~1 min read- Scientific qualifications and knowledge of terrestrial, wetland and/or restoration ecology.
- Fieldwork experience or willingness to acquire field experience.
- Based in Broken Hill or Sydney and able to travel for field work and stay overnight for up to 2 weeks at a time in regional locations.
- Hold current NSW Class C driver's licence
- Hold (or willingness to obtain) current First Aid training
