  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $152,677 to $167,562 + superannuation

The Sharing and Enabling Environmental Data (SEED) program is seeking an exceptional senior leader (or equivalent) with a proven track record in delivering large, complex programs and influencing at the highest levels. This is an opportunity to shape the future of environmental data in NSW while working with senior stakeholders and driving meaningful, system-wide change.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Team Leader to drive delivery of the SEED program and portal, enhancing access to and sharing of environmental data across government, industry, and the community. The role will ensure a well-defined, sustainable, and strategically aligned platform that meets user needs, supports government priorities, secures long-term investment, and strengthens NSW’s environmental data ecosystem. It requires leading complex projects while also shaping the strategic direction of SEED.

 

The successful candidate will build and maintain strong partnerships across DCCEEW, government agencies, universities, and data providers, while confidently managing procurement, vendors, and project delivery. You will provide authoritative advice to the executive, ensuring senior leaders are well-briefed and that scientific and technical considerations inform policy and legislation. The role also leads strategic communication and engagement, delivering clear, compelling materials that translate complex information for diverse audiences and drive continuous improvement across the program.

 

  • Define the strategic direction, funding pathway, and operational requirements for the SEED platform, ensuring alignment with NSW Government priorities, user needs, and long-term sustainability beyond 2028.
  • Lead the implementation of SEED’s communications strategy and implementation plan.
  • Lead delivery of projects across the SEED team to improve usability, access, and service delivery outcomes, including AI options analysis
  • Align with Department of Customer Service (DCS) and whole-of-government digital initiatives
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts, SEED’s financial delivery and stakeholder relationships creating strategic opportunities to enhance value delivery.
  • Brief executive, respond to WoG requests for information and represent SEED as well as open data best practice at various forums.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic thinking and leadership in the delivery of projects that transcend multiple scientific disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience in the principles of open data, design and implementation of information management systems and data visualisation technologies.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to work across multiple teams to deliver customer-focused results and meet organisational objectives.
  • Strong evidence of problem-solving and conflict-management experience and demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement.
