As Manager Water Resource Insights, you'll lead the delivery of critical water analytics, accounting and information services that support evidence-based decision making across government and help ensure the sustainable management of water resources for generations to come.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-performing team at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), providing strategic insights that influence water policy, planning, regulation and water market reform across NSW and nationally.
About the Role
~1 min readReporting to the Director Water Analytics, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for water accounting, analytics, information management and water trade reform services. You will oversee the delivery of high-quality data, insights and reporting that support government strategy, stakeholder engagement and transparent water management.
You will:
- Lead the delivery of water accounting, analytics and trade services across the Water Group.
- Provide strategic data and information products to government, industry and key stakeholders.
- Drive innovation in water data management, analytics and reporting.
- Support compliance with statutory reporting and Murray–Darling Basin Plan trading requirements.
- Build strong partnerships across state and federal agencies, industry and research organisations.
- Influence strategic reforms and contribute to state and national approaches to water accounting and water market management.
- Leads the delivery of water resource hydrology based analytics, accounting and technical insights that support water planning, allocation, regulation and management across NSW.
- Provides expert analysis of hydrology, water data and systems to inform policy, water market operations, Basin Plan compliance and evidence-based water resource management decisions.
You are a strategic and collaborative leader with strong experience managing complex information, data or analytics functions. You have a proven ability to translate technical information into meaningful insights that inform policy, operational and strategic decisions.
You will bring:
- Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering business outcomes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience interpreting complex datasets.
- Expertise in information management, water accounting, data analytics or related disciplines.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
- Experience leading projects, driving reform and managing competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in water resource engineering, science, spatial science, project management, ICT or information management.
