We have an exciting new opportunity for the Media Relations Lead at the NSW Environment Protection Authority. The role develops and oversees the planning and implementation of organizational and ministerial communications, manages stakeholder needs and coordinates the work of the EPA’s media and social media team. The role supports the Manager Media in deliverables while implementing the short and long-term media strategy of the EPA.

  • Experience in the management of high risk and sensitive community issues and experience working collaboratively with Ministerial offices, Executives and regulatory authorities.
  • Experience in managing team development whilst delivery daily media objectives.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver content across different channels and an understanding of the media environment.

You are an experienced media and communications leader who can confidently operate in fast-paced, high-profile and sensitive environments. This role is ideal for someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on media delivery, while building strong relationships across government, media and internal stakeholders. You will be a calm, credible and influential leader who can support the EPA’s media and social media functions and contribute to effective Ministerial and stakeholder communications.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience:

  • Experience managing high-risk and sensitive issues, including working closely with Ministerial offices, executives and regulatory agencies
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams while delivering daily media priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong skills in planning and delivering content across multiple channels, with a sound understanding of the media landscape.
  • Experience developing and implementing media strategies that support stakeholder engagement and reputation management.
  • Strong judgement and problem-solving skills in complex or politically sensitive situations.
  • Ability to coordinate proactive and reactive media materials in line with Government, legal and reputational requirements.
  • Well-developed relationship management skills with internal stakeholders, Ministerial staff and media.
  • Capacity to manage competing priorities, including after-hours responsibilities when.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or demonstrated relevant professional experience.
