  • Parramatta or other NSW DPHI office location by negotiation with flexible working arrangements supported
  • Clerk Grade 11/12 ($154,231 - $178,369)

In this role, you will help shape the future of communities across NSW by leading expert transport engineering advice on the planning and assessment of major development and infrastructure proposals, ensuring transport outcomes are safe, connected, sustainable and designed to support growing communities.

  • Significant transport engineering expertise with demonstrated experience assessing complex development and infrastructure proposals, providing practical, evidence-based advice that supports informed planning decisions.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate feasibility, constructability, operational impacts and long-term infrastructure outcomes in complex and often contested environments.
  • Proven ability to influence outcomes and build trusted relationships, collaborating effectively with government agencies, councils, infrastructure providers, industry stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, enabling you to translate complex technical issues into clear, balanced and defensible advice for a range of audiences.
  • A commitment to community-focused outcomes, understanding how transport infrastructure and planning decisions shape safer, more connected and sustainable communities.
  • Leadership capability and a continuous improvement mindset, with experience mentoring teams, strengthening technical governance and driving consistent, high-quality service delivery.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated senior-level knowledge and experience in civil engineering relevant to transport infrastructure, asset design, operations, constructability, development assessment, infrastructure planning or equivalent advisory functions.
  • Eligibility for professional recognition or registration as an engineer is desirable, where relevant to the role and the department’s workforce requirements.
