We're looking for a Principal Application Developer to provide technical leadership in the design, development and modernisation of Oracle-based digital solutions that deliver meaningful outcomes for the people of NSW.

In this role, you will lead the design, development, enhancement and modernisation of critical oracle-based enterprise applications that support key services across the Department. You will work within a high-performing, collaborative and diverse team, partnering closely with stakeholders to translate complex business needs into scalable, secure and maintainable technical solutions.

You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from business analysis and solution design through to development, testing, deployment, optimisation and ongoing support. As a Principal Oracle Developer, you will provide technical leadership across a diverse Oracle application portfolio, including Oracle Forms, Oracle APEX, PL/SQL, Oracle Database technologies and enterprise integration services. You will be responsible for maintaining and modernising legacy applications while guiding the delivery of modern, cloud-enabled and user-centric solutions. You will champion development standards, architecture principles, secure coding practices, DevOps approaches and continuous improvement, while mentoring developers and contributing to strategic technology direction across the Department.

• →Extensive experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise applications using Oracle technologies, including Oracle Forms, Oracle APEX, Oracle Database, PL/SQL, SQL and Oracle development frameworks.
• →Demonstrated expertise in both legacy and modern Oracle application development, including the maintenance, enhancement, modernisation and migration of Oracle Forms-based applications and the delivery of contemporary web-based solutions using Oracle APEX.
• →Strong database development and performance tuning skills, including complex PL/SQL programming, package development, stored procedures, triggers, query optimisation, indexing strategies, data modelling and database performance analysis.
• →Experience designing and implementing integration solutions using REST and SOAP web services, APIs, XML, JSON, Oracle integration technologies and enterprise messaging patterns.
• →Proven ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions, including application architecture, database design, integrations and user interface development.
• →Demonstrated experience leading technical design activities, performing code reviews, establishing development standards and providing architectural guidance across multiple application teams.
• →Experience developing secure, scalable and reliable enterprise applications, applying best practices in security, authentication, authorisation, auditing and data protection.
• →Strong knowledge of Oracle application lifecycle management, including source control, automated deployment, testing frameworks, release management and DevOps practices.
• →Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and leadership skills, with the ability to analyse and resolve complex application, integration and database issues, mentor developers, foster knowledge sharing and contribute to continuous improvement and engineering best practices across the organisation.

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience.
• Industry-recognised certification in DevOps, cloud or application architecture, or willingness to obtain within six months.
• Demonstrated experience delivering complex application development and support services.
