  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $154,231 to $178,369+ super

As our Principal Project Officer, you'll take the lead on a portfolio of complex and strategically important IT projects, driving delivery from concept through to implementation and benefits realisation.

 

You'll work closely with senior executives, business leaders, technical specialists, vendors and key stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and aligned to organisational priorities. Along the way, you'll influence decision-making, manage risks, establish governance frameworks and create meaningful outcomes that support the future of NSW.

 

We're seeking a confident and experienced project leader who can navigate complexity, influence stakeholders at all levels, and deliver strategic outcomes.

 

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Lead integrated planning and delivery coordination across business, technology and vendor workstreams.
  • Establish and maintain project governance, reporting, assurance and decision-making arrangements.
  • Prepare clear and concise advice, recommendations and status reporting for project governance bodies and senior executives.
  • Enjoy leading complex projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Have the confidence to provide advice and challenge thinking at senior levels.
  • Are skilled at balancing competing priorities, risks and dependencies.
  • Translate complex issues into practical solutions and actionable outcomes.
  • Lead teams through change while maintaining focus on results.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management or equivalent demonstrated experience in project and program delivery, business transformation and organisational change.  
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying project management methodologies, governance frameworks and delivery best practices to successfully deliver complex projects and programs, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, reporting and benefits realisation.  
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects and strategic initiatives within large and/or complex organisations, including stakeholder engagement, governance, procurement, resource management, dependency management and delivery oversight. 
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and managing project governance, assurance and reporting processes, including project control groups, executive reporting, risk and issue management, decision management and escalation pathways
