National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a unique opportunity for Project Officer role to work as part of the team and contribute to the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal and historic heritage.

The Project Officer role supports NPWS’s invasive species management and biosecurity practices. A key function of this role is developing and communicating organisational frameworks, standards, and policies. The role has a focus on supporting feral animal management, as well as preparedness and planning for biosecurity threats that may impact flora and fauna. The position provides project management and coordination, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high performing team to support the achievement of organisational objectives and conservation management outcomes.

 As a Project Officer, you are adept at managing competing priorities and working collaboratively with inter-connected teams across the conservation program.  Ideally, you have exposure to high-volume work within a large complex organisation or similar and have a strong attention to detail.

You are adept at problem solving, enjoy handling diverse and complex data, and bring strong technical and systems skills to your work. You are enthusiastic about learning and applying technological solutions. The role may involve undertaking field activities in remote natural locations, requiring a willingness to work remotely in national parks.

You’ll also be highly motivated and an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders both in person and through virtual networks.  You thrive being a team player who is proactive and demonstrates initiative at every opportunity. 

• Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
• Experience in development and delivery of projects, including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration.
