Help balance growth and conservation, ensuring the places we create today continue to support nature for generations to come.

  • Protect and enhance biodiversity through informed decision-making, helping ensure development and environmental outcomes can coexist.
  • Contribute to better outcomes for communities and the environment.
  • On-going, full-time opportunity (35 hours per week) 
  • Parramatta or other NSW DPHI office location by negotiation with flexible working arrangement supported.
  • Clerk Grade 9/10 ($133,348- $146,945) 

Use your biodiversity expertise to help shape communities that thrive alongside healthy natural environments. You will review and provide advice on major development, infrastructure and planning proposals, helping decision-makers understand biodiversity impacts and identify practical solutions that support both community needs and environmental outcomes. Through collaboration, sound technical judgement and a commitment to sustainable development, you'll help ensure future growth protects the natural values that make NSW a great place to live.

  • Brings strong biodiversity assessment experience, with the ability to review complex ecological studies and provide practical, evidence-based advice.
  • Has a strong understanding of the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) and experience applying biodiversity legislation, policy and assessment frameworks to real-world projects.
  • Can balance competing priorities, considering environmental, planning and community outcomes to support informed decision-making.
  • Builds trusted relationships with stakeholders, working collaboratively across government, industry and technical disciplines to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Communicates complex scientific information clearly, translating technical findings into practical recommendations for non-technical audiences.
  • Is passionate about protecting biodiversity while supporting sustainable growth, recognising the important role biodiversity plays in healthy and resilient communities

Requirements

  • Degree qualification in a related relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience e.g., Bachelor of Environmental Science (Conservation/Sustainability) or Bachelor of Science (Biology/Ecology).
