  • Parramatta or other NSW DPHI office location by negotiation with flexible working arrangement supported.
  • Clerk Grade 9/10 ($133,348- $146,945) 

In this role, you will help ensure that as our communities grow, the health of our waterways and aquatic environments is protected for future generations. You'll provide expert fisheries and aquatic habitat advice on major development and infrastructure proposals, helping decision-makers understand environmental impacts and identify practical solutions that support both community needs and environmental sustainability. Through collaboration, sound technical judgement and stakeholder engagement, you'll contribute to decisions that safeguard the natural environments people enjoy, depend on and cherish.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about protecting aquatic environments and the role healthy waterways play in thriving communities.
  • Brings experience in fisheries, marine science, aquatic ecology, environmental assessment or a related field, with the ability to provide practical and evidence-based advice.
  • Understands the importance of balancing environmental protection and sustainable development, helping achieve positive outcomes for both communities and the natural environment.
  • Builds trusted relationships and collaborates effectively with government agencies, industry, technical specialists and community stakeholders.
  • Can analyse complex environmental information and translate technical findings into practical recommendations that support informed decision-making.
  • Enjoys mentoring and sharing knowledge, contributing to a collaborative team culture and supporting the development of others.

Requirements

  • Degree qualification in a related relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience e.g., Bachelor of Environmental Science or Bachelor of Science (Marine Biology/Marine Ecology/Estuaries).
