As a Senior Media and Communications Advisor, you’ll play a role in managing complex media issues and developing creative communications campaigns. Working in a fast-paced environment, you’ll balance project work with drafting urgent responses to media enquiries.

You’ll contribute to high standards of writing, messaging and storytelling, ensuring communications are easy for the community to understand.

 

Responsibilities

  • Drive media engagement – Develop and deliver proactive media stories, manage high-profile media enquiries, and provide expert communications advice to internal stakeholders.
  • Solve complex communication challenges – Anticipate risks, manage issues, and craft rapid responses to complex or sensitive media issues.
  • Develop high-impact content – Write compelling website content, presentations, and stakeholder communications.
  • Shape and deliver campaigns – Help plan and deliver integrated communication campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Monitor and analyse media trends – Provide insights on media coverage, public sentiment, and communication effectiveness.

You are proactive and adaptable, with a can-do attitude. You have experience handling fast-paced media issues, working with senior leaders, and crafting simple messaging.

 

  • Strong media strategy and issues management skills, with the ability to respond quickly to fast‑moving matters.
  • Excellent storytelling and writing capability, able to translate complex information into clear, compelling messages.
  • Experience delivering campaigns across visual, written and digital channels.
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders, providing clear and trusted advice.
  • Creative and adaptable, bringing fresh ideas and a proactive approach.

 

  • Qualifications or experience in journalism, communications, or public affairs.
  • Understanding of current affairs, contentious issues management, and end-to-end communications campaign delivery.

 

Requirements

  • Ability to participate in an on-call media roster outside of normal working hours.
