Our Conservation and Restoration Science team is currently seeking to appoint a Team Leader, Biodiversity Data and Spatial to lead the delivery of statewide biodiversity monitoring, spatial analysis and data programs that underpin evidence-informed environmental decision-making across NSW. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing team and drive innovative approaches to biodiversity data, analytics and monitoring at scale.

In this role, you will provide strategic leadership across biodiversity monitoring, ecological modelling, spatial sciences and data management initiatives. You will oversee the development of scalable data pipelines, advanced spatial analyses and decision-ready information products that support threatened species conservation and biodiversity outcomes. Working collaboratively with government agencies, researchers, universities and environmental stakeholders, you will foster scientific excellence, drive innovation and ensure the delivery of high-quality projects that influence policy, program delivery and environmental management across NSW.

About You
You are an experienced science data leader with a strong background in biodiversity monitoring, spatial sciences, ecological data management, advanced analytics or related disciplines. You bring demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams, delivering complex programs and translating scientific data and information into practical solutions that support strategic decision-making. Your expertise in data governance, spatial analysis and scalable data systems is complemented by a commitment to scientific rigour, innovation and continuous improvement.

You are a collaborative and influential leader who excels at building partnerships across government, research institutions and the environmental sector. With strong communication, stakeholder engagement and people leadership skills, you can guide teams through complex challenges, communicate complex data management issues into practical advice, balance competing priorities and inspire others to deliver meaningful outcomes.

You are passionate about using science, technology and data to help protect and restore biodiversity across NSW.

Essential Requirements 

• Degree in Science or related field and equivalent experience
• A current Class C driver license and a willingness and ability to travel for work
