Position Summary
The University Club of Saint Paul is seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Pool Certified Operator (CPO) to oversee the safe operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the club’s aquatic facilities. This position is responsible for ensuring exceptional water quality, maintaining pool equipment, and providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for members and guests.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and experienced in pool operations, preventative maintenance, and health code compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Pool Operations & Maintenance
- Monitor and maintain proper pool chemistry, including chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and other required levels.
- Perform daily inspections of pool systems, pumps, filters, heaters, and related mechanical equipment.
- Ensure all aquatic facilities meet local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
- Conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of pool decks, drains, filtration systems, and surrounding areas.
- Maintain accurate records of chemical readings, maintenance logs, inspections, and incident reports.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all Minnesota Department of Health regulations and aquatic safety standards.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards promptly.
- Coordinate inspections and corrective actions as needed.
- Respond professionally and efficiently to emergencies or operational issues.
Preventative Maintenance
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for aquatic equipment and systems.
- Coordinate repairs with outside vendors and contractors when necessary.
- Monitor inventory levels of chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
Member & Guest Experience
- Provide outstanding customer service to members and guests.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional aquatic environment.
- Communicate operational updates or temporary closures appropriately.
Qualifications
- Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification required.
- Previous experience of operating and maintaining commercial swimming pools preferred.
- Strong understanding of pool chemistry, filtration systems, and aquatic facility operations.
- Knowledge of applicable health, safety, and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in indoor/outdoor environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality, private club, or recreational facility environments.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred.
- Basic mechanical or plumbing experience is a plus.
Schedule & Compensation
- Seasonal and/or year-round opportunities are available based on operational needs.
- Flexible schedule includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
