Summary Statement

There is an immediate need for a Special Investigator in the Administration Division, based in the New Castle County Office in Wilmington, Delaware, with statewide responsibilities. The primary mission of this role is to provide armed executive protection to the Attorney General. Responsibilities include conducting threat assessments, investigating suspicious or concerning activity, coordinating with federal, state, and local law-enforcement partners, and performing advance security planning for official travel, events, and public appearances throughout the State. These positions are critical to safeguarding the Attorney General, maintaining operational readiness, and ensuring continuity of leadership and State operations.\r\n\r\n\r\nThis positing may close early once a candidate has been selected.\r\n

Job Requirements

1.\tMinimum five years law enforcement experience.\r\n2.\tAbility to investigate complex and difficult cases both independently and as part of a team.\r\n3.\tAbility to prepare comprehensive investigative reports for review by a Deputy Attorney General for civil and criminal complaints.\r\n4.\tStrong written and verbal communication skills.\r\n5.\tCurrent or recent Police Officers Standards Training (“POST”) certification.�\r\n6.\tFamiliarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), DELJIS, NCIC, and LEISS.\r\n7.\tPossession of a valid driver’s license.\r\n8.\tAbility to qualify to carry a DOJ-issued firearm.\r\n9.\tWillingness to travel and attend various training opportunities as needed.\r\n

Conditions of Hire

\r\n Employment is contingent upon satisfactory background checks.\r\n Direct deposit of paychecks is required as a condition of hire.\r\n Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.\r\n This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16.� This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.\r\n\r\n
