Deakin Residential Services (DRS) currently manages roughly 3000 student beds across multiple campuses and  provides innovative and outstanding accommodation for students, staff, school groups, and families at Deakin's Burwood, Waterfront, Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool campuses; our role within the university is to promote the delivery of a positive student experience.

About the Role

The Senior Coordinator, Finance will work within the central support team for DRS and is responsible for delivering high-level financial coordination, expert advice, and operational support across a complex and growing portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role would be suitable for someone adaptable and collaborative as it combines analytical, operational, and leadership responsibilities. As a Senior Coordinator, you will:

  • High level analytical support, including forecasting and budgets
  • Undertake operational finance tasks as required
  • Analyse complex issues and negotiate effective solutions with stakeholders
  • Lead initiatives and drive improvement in processes and practices
  • Evaluate progress and adjust plans to achieve outcomes
  • Postgraduate qualifications or extensive relevant experience and management expertise; or equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training
  • Experience leading programs or functions that drive improvement
  • Demonstrated high-level financial and analytical skills, including experience in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial governance
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop staff, and contribute to a positive team culture
  • Demonstrated experience improving financial systems, processes, and workflows, with a focus on efficiency, compliance, and accuracy
