Position Summary:
OceanX Education is seeking an Event Operations Manager who will lead the planning and execution of immersive public programs, experiential activations, and live audience experiences across traditional and nontraditional venues. This role will collaborate with internal partners and external vendors to deliver safe, efficient, and impactful audience experiences.
The ideal candidate brings experience from experiential agencies, live productions, conferences, touring events, exhibitions, museums, or other technical event environments where temporary builds, interactive technology, and operational agility are critical to success. This is a hands-on, producer-led role requiring ownership of event production, show execution, and real-time troubleshooting from concept through execution, with the ability to translate complex production decisions into seamless, high-quality audience experiences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead technical production workflows from concept development through fabrication, onsite installation, live execution, strike, and post-event wrap.
- Serve as the hands-on technical lead for live production environments, overseeing immersive display systems, show control, lighting, audience-facing technology, comms systems, interactive installations, and real-time troubleshooting during live events.
- Lead deployment, setup, transport, and maintenance of in-house event AV hardware and immersive technology assets, including LED walls, trifold displays, and interactive installations.
- Manage onsite show execution, including run-of-show discipline, cueing, live troubleshooting, staff and crew coordination, and performance monitoring of AV/IT systems to ensure seamless audience experiences.
- Translate technical production decisions into cohesive, high-quality audience experiences that feel immersive, intuitive, and operationally seamless.
- Manage external production partners, fabrication vendors, technical crews, venue operators, and logistics providers, overseeing RFPs, production timelines, budgets, and onsite delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Build and maintain production documentation, including run-of-show schedules, cue sheets, technical plots, project trackers, and contingency plans for mission-critical elements.
- Develop scalable operational systems, workflows, and technical processes to support the growth of OceanX Education’s public programming and immersive event portfolio.
- Coordinate closely with programming and audience engagement teams to align technical systems, operational workflows, and spatial design with content and community needs.
- Implement safety protocols, risk assessments, contingency planning, and compliance measures, including adherence to local regulations, labor requirements, accessibility standards, and insurance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Develop post-event reporting and operational analysis frameworks to evaluate performance, operational efficiency, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Willingness to travel regionally and support onsite execution across multiple venues.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and across time zones as needed.
- Adaptability to varying workloads in a dynamic, fast-paced production environment.
Qualifications:
- Professional Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in experiential production, live events, immersive activations, exhibitions, touring productions, or agency-led production environments.
- Strong understanding of immersive event technology, including LED/display systems, interactive installations, lighting environments, temporary technical infrastructure, and live production systems.
- Exposure to AV and live event technology, including audio systems, projection, playback systems, media servers, show control, and comms systems.
- Experience producing events in nontraditional venues such as museums, exhibitions, outdoor environments, temporary event spaces, or pop-up activations.
- Strong understanding of production operations, including run-of-show management, technical documentation, production schedules, logistics, crew coordination, and contingency planning.
- Experience managing vendors, fabrication partners, technical crews, venue operators, and logistics providers across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Proficiency with project management and production tracking tools such as Smartsheet, Monday.com, Notion, Airtable, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with CAD software, digital floor planning tools, or technical drafting tools preferred.
- Solid understanding of safety protocols, risk management practices, accessibility standards, and operational compliance requirements for live events.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve technical and operational issues in real time during live execution.
- Strong organizational and operational management skills, including budget tracking, cost management, and operational reporting.
- Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and AI-enabled productivity or analytical tools.
- Familiarity with emerging production technologies and immersive experiences, with a willingness to adapt to new tools and workflows preferred.
- Comfortable traveling regionally and supporting onsite technical execution across multiple locations.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and collaborate across time zones as needed to support live events and production execution.

Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation for the role includes a competitive salary dependent on years of experience, level of education obtained, as well as applicable skillset), and an excellent benefits package, including a comprehensive employer paid medical plan and CPF.
