The Data Center Engineer assists in maintaining the safe operation of electrical and mechanical systems across all data centers. This role supports the authorization and oversight of electrical works, ensuring compliance with Electrical Safety Rules and company standards. The engineer collaborates with staff to provide technical guidance, participate in safety permitting, and uphold operational safety. They are involved in audits, training, and cross-functional teamwork to maintain high safety and compliance standards. The Data Center Engineer is responsible for supporting the safe execution of electrical and mechanical work within data centers, working under the guidance of engineers. They help administer and monitor safe systems of work, ensuring all activities comply with established safety rules and procedures. The role involves assisting in the training and assessment of staff and contractors, participating in audits, and contributing to the continuous improvement of safety practices. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to address operational challenges, resolve issues, and maintain a safe working environment. They are expected to demonstrate a commitment to company values, including customer focus, teamwork, and results-driven performance. The engineer also helps interpret and apply complex safety regulations, ensuring all work is performed to the highest standards. Effective communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this role. - Bachelors degree in engineering (preferably BEng or BSc Hons), ideally electrical - Recognised craft Apprenticeship or training scheme in electrical engineering - AE training course completed - AP (Authorised Person) training attended, with experience as HV or LV AP - 2-4 Years experience in Building Services, Electrical, or Data Center industry - Strong understanding of electrical safety and switching in critical environments - Experience in oversight, assessment, and training, including audits and competence vetting of contractors
