Windows Server Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Windows System Engineer to provide advanced administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting across customer Microsoft infrastructure environments. You will work extensively with Windows Server, Windows workstations, Active Directory, identity services, and Hyper-V virtualisation.

This role involves building and managing server environments, resolving complex Level 3 escalations, improving system stability, and supporting customers with clear, practical technical guidance. Success will require strong technical judgement, hands-on PowerShell capability, and the confidence to work independently in a remote customer-support environment.

You will be working with an established Australian IT solutions and consulting provider that has supported organisations for more than two decades. The business delivers practical technology services across Microsoft infrastructure, cloud solutions, cybersecurity, backup and disaster recovery, communications systems, hardware, software, and business consulting.

• Approximately five to six years of relevant Microsoft infrastructure or systems-engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server environments.
• Proven experience supporting Windows workstations in business or customer environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in building, configuring, and managing Hyper-V environments.
• Experience administering Active Directory domains and associated identity services.
• A strong track record of resolving complex Level 3 infrastructure escalations.
• The ability to diagnose technical issues independently and take ownership through to resolution.
• Experience within customer-facing IT support, consulting, or managed-services environments.
• A proactive approach to learning new Microsoft technologies and infrastructure platforms.

• →Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Server environments.
• →Deliver senior-level support for Windows workstations and server-connected endpoint issues.
• →Build, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Hyper-V hosts and virtual machines.
• →Configure and support Hyper-V across both domain and workgroup environments.
• →Administer Active Directory domains and associated identity services.
• →Support hybrid Microsoft identity environments, including Microsoft Entra ID and Azure Active Directory.
• →Conduct proactive server maintenance, monitoring, and system-health reviews.
• →Investigate and resolve complex Windows Server, workstation, and virtualisation incidents.
• →Act as an escalation point for issues requiring advanced Microsoft infrastructure expertise.
• →Diagnose performance, authentication, access, connectivity, and service-related problems.
• →Use PowerShell and Windows command-line tools for administration, troubleshooting, and automation.
• →Support server builds, upgrades, configuration changes, and infrastructure improvements.
• →Maintain accurate technical documentation, ticket records, system notes, and resolution details.
• →Collaborate with the wider technical team and provide guidance to junior engineers when required.
• →Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommended actions clearly to customers and internal stakeholders.
• →Escalate issues appropriately when additional expertise or vendor support is required.
