Pay Rate: $52.04 6 $62.88 per hour
Sign On Bonus: $15,000

POSITION SUMMARY
The CT Technologist is responsible for performing CT and radiographic examinations safely and accurately. The CT Technologist prepares and positions patients, operates CT equipment, produces high quality diagnostic images, follows department and regulatory protocols, assists physicians during procedures, maintains equipment and quality standards, and provides professional patient centered care.
The CT Technologist may work with newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
7 High school diploma required.
7 Certificate in allied health education and graduation from an accredited radiography school or hospital based program required.
7 Associate Degree in allied health education and an accredited radiography school or hospital based program preferred.
7 Two years of experience preferred.
7 DOH IV certification preferred or must be completed during the six month orientation period.
7 ARRT registered as RT with radiography (R) and/or CT certification, or NMTCB registered as CNMT, with documented training and experience operating CT equipment and knowledge of radiation physics and protection required upon hire.
7 Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire.
7 New York State Department of Health Radiology License required upon hire, or New York State Department of Health Limited Permit required upon hire.
7 New York State Department of Health IV certification required within 180 days of hire.
7 Radiation dose pledges for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) must be completed during orientation and before the end of the six month probationary period.
7 Advanced CT examination/certification through ARRT must be successfully completed within one year from the date of hire.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Understands and adheres to WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors. Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations while observing protocol specific and special requirements. Properly documents information on images and required body part questionnaires. Assumes responsibility for designated areas and procedures. Produces high quality technical images and reviews completed exams for quality, completeness, and accuracy. Assists physicians during procedures as necessary. Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed. Notifies senior staff when supplies are low and need to be ordered. Responds to emergency procedures and situations that arise within the department. Works on call, holidays, overtime, and day, evening, or overnight shifts when necessary to maintain adequate and safe department coverage. Maintains cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports malfunctioning equipment to Biomedical Engineering or senior staff. Processes images and prints CDs when needed. Performs routine office duties, including answering phones and checking previous reports and films. Documents patient information in EPIC, hospital RIS, and PACS digital X ray systems. Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to their floors. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor. Treats patients, families, staff, and other individuals professionally and courteously while upholding hospital behavioral standards. Introduces themselves to patients, uses two patient identifiers, and explains the examination to the patient and/or family member. Provides care appropriate to the physical and psychosocial needs of newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Performs New York State and ACR quality assurance tasks and calibrations. Follows department specific protocols and policies, including Stroke Program, Code Gray, IV and oral contrast procedures, and other applicable protocols. Attends staff meetings and in services. Performs other related duties as assigned. Remains on standby or on call for emergency department coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFICIENCY EXPECTATIONS
7 High proficiency in producing quality technical images and reviewing completed exams for quality and completeness.
7 High proficiency in performing equipment quality assurance and calibrations.
7 High proficiency in maintaining equipment, work areas, and accessories.
7 High proficiency in responding to emergency procedures and providing coverage as required.
7 High proficiency in performing routine office duties and documenting patient information in EPIC, RIS, and PACS.
7 Medium proficiency in assisting physicians during procedures.
7 Medium proficiency in processing images and printing CDs.
7 Must maintain continuing education requirements in accordance with standards established by governing bodies.
7 Current continuing education standards are 24 ECE credits over a two year period, depending on year of birth.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURE
The candidate must have the required professional credentials and must maintain them according to applicable regulatory requirements.
Required:
7 ARRT registration as RT with radiography (R) and/or CT certification, or NMTCB registration as CNMT.
7 Documented training and experience operating CT equipment.
7 Knowledge of radiation physics and radiation protection.
7 New York State Department of Health Radiology License or Limited Permit upon hire.
7 Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
7 New York State Department of Health IV certification within 180 days of hire.
7 Advanced CT examination/certification through ARRT within one year of hire.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
7 Two or more years of relevant experience.
7 DOH IV certification.
7 Experience working in a hospital or clinical environment.
7 Experience working with CT equipment and a variety of patient populations.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is an evening direct hire position.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday
4:30 PM 6 12:30 AM
Alternating weekends and holidays
The position may also require on call, standby, emergency, overtime, and alternate shift coverage based on departmental and hospital needs.
SIGN ON BONUS

IMPORTANT RECRUITING NOTE
Candidates should have the appropriate radiology and CT credentials, New York State licensure or permit, and documented experience or training operating CT equipment.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working evening shifts, alternating weekends and holidays, responding to emergency situations, working with patients of different age groups, and following strict radiation safety and hospital protocols.
