The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for the governance of inventory transactions, operational data, inventory master data, and inventory verification processes. This role establishes and maintains the operational controls that ensure inventory records accurately reflect physical activity, operational data is reliable, and inventory processes scale with the business. Working closely with Supply Chain (Warehouse, Procurement, Planning), Production, Program Management, and IT teams- this position strengthens inventory accuracy, data integrity, and audit readiness by ensuring the operational foundation supporting inventory valuation is complete, timely, and well controlled.
- Validate that inventory transactions accurately reflect physical activity, are recorded in the appropriate period, and comply with established transaction governance.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve Inventory Transaction Governance documentation to support evolving business processes and standardized transaction practices.
- Investigate transaction discrepancies, identify root causes, and partner with operational teams to implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Validate the completeness and accuracy of operational data, including production activity, materials disposition, inventory movements, and labor or machine hours where applicable.
- Monitor the quality of operational data that downstream inventory reporting and valuation processes depend upon.
- Identify data gaps, control failures, and process breakdowns before they impact inventory accuracy.
- Drive accuracy and completeness of inventory master data, including required inventory attributes and costing definitions.
- Partner with Engineering, Procurement, and Operations to ensure new items are established under the correct definitions with complete and accurate and information before release.
- Maintain the item master as a foundational control by identifying and remediating incomplete, duplicate, or outdated records to support accurate downstream inventory transactions.
- Drive quarterly cycle count execution, reconciliation, documentation, approvals, and the annual physical inventory.
- Define count cadence, ownership, investigation requirements, and variance thresholds.
- Ensure count variances are investigated, resolved, documented, and incorporated into process improvements.
- Develop and maintain documented inventory control procedures, governance, and operating standards.
- Develop and maintain inventory control KPIs and scorecards to monitor data quality, control effectiveness, transaction accuracy, and inventory performance.
- Identify recurring control failures involving item setup, inventory transactions, or operational data, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Partner cross-functionally to establish effective controls for new programs, inventory categories, and operational changes while strengthening inventory accuracy, data integrity, and operational discipline.
- Partner closely with Supply Chain (Planning, Procurement, Warehouse), Production, Program Management, and IT teams to maintain consistent processes and data quality.
- Support teams in resolving inventory issues while promoting standardized processes and control ownership.
Requirements

- 5–7 years of progressive experience in inventory control, inventory operations, supply chain, manufacturing operations, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory flow, production workflows, inventory tracking, and ERP transaction processing, with demonstrated experience designing, documenting, and maintaining inventory control processes that ensure inventory accuracy and data integrity.
- Experience monitoring inventory controls through reconciliations, KPIs, scorecards, and variance analysis, while identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze ERP, production, inventory, and operational data using advanced Excel to perform reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and improve inventory and data accuracy.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across operations teams to establish, maintain, and improve controls.
- Experience in aerospace, hardware, automotive, or other complex manufacturing environments with mature inventory control processes.
- Experience building inventory controls, governance, and operational processes within rapidly growing, evolving, or transitional manufacturing organizations.
- Experience supporting accurate inventory tracking, transaction governance, and operational controls during ERP implementations, system migrations, or manufacturing process transformations.
- Experience working in environments where inventory control processes required significant development, standardization, and continuous improvement.
- Oracle Fusion experience preferred.
- APICS (CPIM or CSCP) certification preferred.
- Primarily office-based with regular presence in warehouse and manufacturing areas; hybrid schedule available (typically four days onsite, one day remote).
- Role requires significant ERP and operational data analysis, along with frequent cross-functional collaboration to monitor inventory controls, investigate issues, and drive process improvements.
- Regular interaction and partnership across business functional teams to support inventory governance and operational data integrity.
- Participation in physical inventory observations, cycle counts, and inventory investigations within manufacturing and warehouse environments.

~2 min readAt Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels S05: $109,240 - $150,210 as evaluated through our interview process.
