Obstetric Service
Antenatal care to include clinical assessments, examinations, investigations, ultrasound scans, prescriptions as necessary and advice from confirmation of pregnancy throughout the antenatal period by arranging regular follow up appointments. Where appropriate procedures will be carried out within the scope of my expertise. Where necessary I will refer patients for additional investigations and/or treatments to colleagues with specialised skills
Intrapartum care managing my patient’s labour with the assistance of midwifery colleagues. To be responsible for and to conduct the deliveries of patients in my care including normal vaginal delivery, assisted vaginal delivery or operative delivery. To conduct the management of the third stage of labour, repair of perineal tears or episiotomy and any complications arising during each stage of labour
Post-partum care providing care for women after delivery with the support of midwifery colleagues including the six-week postnatal check
Pre-conceptual advice providing where necessary advice about optimising pre-existing medical conditions prior to pregnancy, working with specialist colleagues as necessary in the best interests of the patients
Gynaecological Service
Diagnostic services for general gynaecological problems for women, girls and adolescents
Conditions including menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, uro-gynaecological disorders, fertility assessment, pelvic masses, menopause, vulval problems and reproductive endocrine disorders.
Diagnosis to include history taking, clinical examination, relevant investigations and appropriate gynaecological imaging
Treatment for general gynaecological problems
Minimal access surgery including hysteroscopic and laparoscopic procedures
Vaginal surgery including vaginal hysterectomy, anterior and posterior colporrhaphy
Open surgery including hysterectomy, myomectomy and management of large benign ovarian masses
Prescribing appropriate medication to manage gynaecological problems.
Colposcopy (desirable)
Diagnosis and management of pre-cancerous lesions of the cervix and vagina
Screening services
Cervical cytology screening
Screening for sexually transmitted infections where appropriate
Gynaecological ultrasound imaging
Contraceptive advice
Short acting, long acting reversible and permanent forms of contraception
Paediatric and adolescent gynaecology
Menstrual disorders
Pelvic pain and dysmenorrhoea including laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis
Disorders of puberty including delayed puberty and primary amenorrhoea
Premature ovarian insufficiency
Paediatric vulvo-vaginitis and vulval disorders
Congenital anomalies (excluding surgical management of neonatal intersex disorders)
In addition to the above criteria, all OBGYNs employed by Integra Healthcare will be required to register for privileges to work within the C.I. HSA and CTMH Doctors Hospital.
