We are seeking an experienced Design Release Engineer (DRE) to support the development and release of thermal components and systems for automotive applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience releasing production parts, collaborating with suppliers, and working within OEM product development processes. Experience with AC systems, EV thermal systems, and VW-specific tools is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and release of thermal components and systems in accordance with OEM standards.
  • Own part release activities including drawing release, BOM creation, and change management.
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers to manage design feasibility, cost, quality, and timing.
  • Support prototype builds, validation testing, and launch activities.
  • Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and systems engineering teams.
  • Ensure compliance with vehicle performance, durability, regulatory, and OBD requirements.
  • Resolve design, quality, and supplier-related issues during development and production.
  • Support EV thermal systems development, including high-voltage safety considerations (as applicable).

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of experience as a Design Release Engineer within an OEM or Tier-1 automotive environment.
  • Proven experience releasing production automotive parts.
  • Strong background in thermal components or systems.
  • Hands-on experience working with suppliers.
  • Proficiency with:
    • Teamcenter (PLM)
    • CATIA
  • Solid understanding of automotive product development and release processes.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with KVS.
  • Experience with Automotive AC systems.
  • Knowledge of plumbing systems, valves, and fluid routing.
  • Experience with OBD requirements.
  • EV experience, especially thermal management systems for electric or hybrid vehicles.
