BACKGROUND

Democratic Majority for Israel works to maintain and strengthen support for the U.S.-Israel alliance by providing resources to elected officials, candidates, and the public, while advocating for our progressive values as proud pro-Israel Democrats.
The States Director is a senior position responsible for advancing Democratic Majority for Israel’s (DMFI) state-level political strategy. This role will lead engagement with state Democratic parties, elected officials, and allied pro-Israel organizations like the Jewish Community Relations Councils (JCRCs), while monitoring and organizing responses to state and local platform fights. The States Director will also play a central role in building the next generation of pro-Israel Democratic candidates by spearheading training, developing best practices, and supporting state and local groups with strategic guidance.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Monitor state and local party platforms and organize responses to platform fights.
- →Engage directly with state Democratic parties, elected pro-Israel Democrats, and allied political organizations, including JCRCs and other pro-Israel networks.
- →Travel to state conventions to represent DMFI and assist in managing platform battles.
- →Build and maintain a candidate pipeline to identify and prepare future Democratic pro-Israel leaders for federal races.
- Lead and coordinate campaign training sessions for candidates, staff, and allied organizations.
- Develop and share best practices in campaign strategy, including consultant vetting, messaging guidance, and voter contact strategies.
- Provide state and local partners with actionable resources and support to strengthen their political capacity.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to DMFI’s leadership team on state-level political trends and opportunities.
- Foster collaboration between DMFI and state/local partners to ensure alignment with national priorities.
- Represent the organization in high-level meetings with party leaders, elected officials, and allied stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- At least 7 -9 years of experience including a proven track record of political engagement at the state or federal level, with direct experience in electoral campaigns, party politics, and/or issue advocacy.
- Strong understanding of Democratic Party infrastructure, conventions, and platform processes.
- Demonstrated ability to build coalitions, cultivate relationships, and influence political outcomes.
- Experience in training, mentorship, and developing candidate or organizational capacity.
- Experience managing projects and budgets.
- Excellent strategic, analytical, and communication skills, with a readiness to travel frequently.
- Entrepreneurial with a collaborative work style and a growth mindset.
- Solutions-oriented.
- Strong attention to detail.
COMPENSATION
$120,000 - $150,000
