Opportunity Overview

As Medical Director in North America Medical Affairs, you will be a strategic thought partner providing expert medical leadership and launch excellence, leading Medical Affairs strategy, content development, KOL education programs, and support our cross-functional field teams for North America. As a key member of the North America Medical team, reporting to the Senior Medical Director, North America, you will be accountable for advancing Rhythm’s scientific leadership in Rare Neuroendocrine Diseases including hypothalamic Obesity and other pipeline indications. You will thrive in this role if you are a self-starter and a highly collaborative individual who cares to have impact on patients in rare disease space.

Responsibilities And Duties
 
  • Contribute to and execute a highly efficient, integrated medical launch strategy for Hypothalamic Obesity along with pipeline.
  • Develop and maintain KOL engagement with key stakeholders to bring relevant insights in the launch of potential future indications.
  • Work in close collaboration with Field Medical, Global Medical Affairs, Commercial, Customer Engagement, and other cross-functional partners to ensure engagement strategy, positioning and scientific educational initiatives are consistently aligned with Rhythm’s strategy and KOL knowledge needs.
  • Collaborate with experts and medical organizations to develop and implement clinical practice guidelines, and diagnostic algorithms for HO and other rare neuroendocrine conditions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional field teams to identify gaps and provide North America strategic input as subject matter medical expert for the development of disease state and product specific educational and messaging opportunities in internal and external-facing materials and initiatives.
  • Lead high impact strategic activities such as advisory boards, Round tables and other Medical Initiatives to generate insights.
  • Manage budget for assigned projects.
     
Qualifications And Skills
 
  • Advanced degree, MD, PharmD or Ph.D. required; fellowship or other additional post doctorate experience highly preferred
  • 8-10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, with relevant HQ-based Medical Affairs or related experience
  • Substantial understanding and experience in rare disease is required
  • Prior launch experience required
  • Excellent written and communication skills, highly organized and able to manage supporting multiple initiatives
  • A curious learner who is focused on patient outcomes and values collaboration and advancing scientific understanding
  • Team player willing to roll up sleeves and bring expertise to other departments as needed
