Graduate Site Engineer
Start your career on site. Learn from experienced professionals. See the projects you work on take shape.
Finished university or college and looking for your first real opportunity in construction or engineering?
We’re looking for a Graduate Site Engineer who wants to build their career through hands-on experience. Rather than sitting behind a desk all day, you’ll be out on live project sites, learning how projects are delivered and developing practical engineering and surveying skills from experienced members of the team.
This is a beginning-of-career opportunity, so we’re not expecting you to know everything on day one. We’re looking for someone with the right technical foundation, a willingness to learn and the confidence to get involved.
What you’ll be getting involved in
Working alongside our Project Managers, Site Agents and wider project teams, you'll develop experience across areas including:
- Setting out works accurately on live construction sites
- Using surveying equipment, including Total Stations and automatic levels
- Measuring cut, fill, stockpile volumes and project quantities
- Supporting site surveys and recording testing locations
- Keeping accurate project and site records
- Using surveying and GPS software
- Building and developing 3D models for use by our plant and site teams
- Working with colleagues, clients and other professionals involved in delivering projects
Who are we looking for?
You could be a great fit if you:
- Have recently graduated, or are about to graduate, in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction, Geotechnical Engineering or a related subject
- Have an HNC, degree or equivalent technical qualification
- Have some exposure to surveying equipment, setting out or 3D modelling through university, college, a placement or previous employment
- Enjoy solving problems and working practically
- Are organised and able to prioritise your workload
- Are comfortable communicating with different people
- Want to learn and take on increasing responsibility
- Have an interest in construction, earthworks and site engineering
Any knowledge of health & safety, CDM 2015, geotechnical testing or contaminated land projects would be useful, but you don’t need to arrive as the finished article.
Why this role?
This is an opportunity to build genuine site experience, develop practical technical skills and learn how construction projects work in the real world.
You’ll work with experienced people, develop relationships across the business and build the foundations for a long-term career in site engineering and construction.
If you’re ambitious, practical and ready to turn what you’ve learned into a career, we’d like to hear from you.
