Position Summary
The Instructional Design Specialist supports faculty in developing high-quality courses, assignments, and learning
experiences while collaborating with the Center of Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) staff to provide professional development and support for effective course design and instructional technology implementation.
Essential Job Duties
• Collaborate with faculty to design and develop high-quality, learner-centered courses for online and in-person
formats.
• Ensure course alignment with institutional standards including Quality Matters for online courses.
• Consult on the creation of measurable student learning outcomes and content accessibility.
• Assist faculty with integration of instructional technology tools to enhance learning experiences.
• Provide ongoing consultation and support for course design and technology implementation.
• Manage Quality Matters program and quality assurance processes for online courses.
• Mentor faculty through the Quality Matters course review process.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions on course design and instructional technology best practices.
• Develop and maintain online resources for faculty support.
• Serve on university committees as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in education, instructional technology, or related field with 3-5 years of experience
• Master's degree preferred
Licenses/Certifications
• Quality Matters Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) certification (can be completed after hire)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong understanding of instructional design principles and best practices for both online and in-person learning
environments
• Proficient in learning management systems and educational technology tools
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective faculty collaboration
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Ability to adapt to changing technology and educational trends
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and universal design principles
• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example
• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner

Frequently required to communicate effectively with diverse populations
Regularly performs tasks that involve repetitive wrist and finger movement
