Our client is seeking an experienced Product Industrialization Engineer to join the Port Elizabeth team, · Translate customer product designs into manufacturable rubber components. · Conceptualize and design tooling and moulds required for rubber part production. · Determine optimal tooling economics, including cavity number, cycle times, and production efficiency. · Oversee tooling realization, prototyping, and commissioning of new products. · Scale validated prototypes into reliable series production. · Act as technical interface with customers, ensuring clear communication of requirements and solutions. · Present technical proposals, design options, and cost implications to both customers and internal teams. · Support sales and commercial teams with technical inputs for quotations and pricing. · Be able to represent the company to external stakeholders. · Utilize CAD and drawing packages for tooling, product design, and manufacturing documentation. · Apply knowledge of rubber processing, mould, tooling design, and manufacturability principles. · Apply CNC machining and programming expertise (milling and lathe) to support tooling realization · Evaluate financial aspects of tooling and production, assisting with costing and pricing strategies · Provide input on investment justification and return-on-investment for new tooling and processes. Requirements · Grade 12 · Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials/Polymer Science, or equivalent. · Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in product development, mould and tool design, or manufacturing engineering (rubber industry advantageous). · Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar). · Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling design, and production workflows · Experience in CNC machining/programming (milling and lathe) is a strong advantage. · Exposure to costing, pricing, or commercial aspects of manufacturing. · Knowledge of rubber compound types, their usages, advantages, and restrictions would be advantageous.
