Why this role
Encepta is growing our Pole Loading Analysis (PLA) team to meet increasing demand. This role will use software to analyze utility pole structures to identify structural loading failures, and apply design decisions to resolve issues. This role is a great fit if you enjoy real-world problem-solving, working with field-derived inputs, and producing clean, defensible analysis and design packages.
What you’ll do
• Complete pole loading analyses and design solutions for joint-use attachments (telecom and utility environments)
• Build accurate models from upstream inputs (field data, point clouds/measurements, photos, spans, attachments, and client standards)
• Identify overloaded or non-compliant conditions and recommend practical, buildable design solutions
• Produce clear documentation and construction-ready notes/packages so downstream teams can act quickly
• Participate in peer review and QA/QC; support escalation to P.Eng review when required
• Provide feedback to field teams on input quality and what’s needed to reduce rework
• Contribute to improving templates, checklists, and workflow to increase throughput while protecting quality
Tools you will be trained to use
• QuickPole
• SPIDAcalc
• PLS-CADD
• ArcGIS / Google Earth / CAD
• 3D Visualization Software
What success looks like (first 90 days)
• You will complete an intense, hands-on training of our tools and workflows
You can complete straightforward PLA files with consistent assumptions, clean documentation, and minimal rework
• You quickly spot missing/incorrect inputs and communicate what’s needed to resolve them
• You follow established processes and quality standards consistently
• You build strong working relationships with peers, reviewers, and project leads through clear, proactive communication
What we’re looking for
Delivery & mindset
• Strong critical thinker who enjoys mechanical and structural problem-solving
• A solid understanding of how things break from a mechanical perspective
• Visualization and understanding of mechanical structures
• Detail-oriented and consistent—follows the process and documents clearly
• Comfortable with extended screen time and structured technical work
• Fast learner who asks good questions and adapts quickly
• Curious about how modern tools, technology, and AI can improve workflows and quality
• Collaborative and proactive communicator
Experience & education
We’re open to candidates on a Mechanical, Structural, Civil Technician/Technologist track or an Engineer/EIT track. Direct PLA experience is an asset but not required for the right person.
What’s in it for you
• Learn to apply your technical studies in real-life applications
• Develop long-lasting infrastructure solutions that enhance Canadian communities
• Work closely with subject matter experts
• A team that values curiosity, quality, and continuous improvement
• Real opportunity to grow your technical scope and career direction as our PLA practice scales
