LOTO Controlled-area Attendant offers support commissioning activities while final mechanical and electrical installation work continues on the production line.

During this installation period, commissioning will begin before the Safety PLC and associated safety interlocks are fully operational. The role will function similarly to a controlled-area attendant, monitoring personnel entering the commissioning area and providing continuous field observation to support compliance with LOTO procedures and temporary safety controls.

The LOTO Controlled-area Attendant provides an additional layer of field observation and access control and does not replace the responsibilities of personnel authorized to perform or control LOTO activities.

Scope of Services
The assigned person will remain full-time at the controlled project area and:
  • Monitor personnel entering and exiting the designated commissioning area.
  • Confirm personnel are authorized/trained to enter and have the required PPE.
  • Verify/audit a Take Five risk assessment before an individual enters the controlled area for the first time each day.
  • Monitor temporary barricades and restricted areas and immediately alert personnel of unauthorized access.
  • Observe compliance with established LOTO procedures, including required locks/tags and applicable LOTO sheets/logs.
  • Observe commissioning and installation activities and immediately raise concerns when a safety deviation is identified.
  • Report significant deviations or concerns to the Project Site Supervisor for immediate action.

Personnel Requirements
  • This position does not require an HSE specialist. The individual should be attentive, familiar with working in an industrial environment, and able to follow established procedures and immediately communicate potential safety deviations.
  • A safety background and previous exposure to LOTO practices are preferred. The individual will receive orientation on the project-specific LOTO procedures, Take Five process, restricted areas, and expectations before beginning the assignment.
  • Required site PPE shall be worn at all times.
  • Background and drug screen required
