We’re looking for an Experience Coordinator to be a visible and confident frontline leader across our public-facing spaces - supporting Visitor Experience, Retail, Events and the Irish Family History Centre (IFHC). This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys leading people on shift, and has a genuine interest in history, emigration, cultural programming and visitor engagement.
About the Role
The Experience Coordinator is a hands-on frontline leadership role responsible for delivering exceptional visitor experiences during assigned shifts. You will support teams across departments, oversee daily operations, resolve issues in real time, and ensure EPIC’s standards of service, presentation and professionalism are consistently upheld.
This is a part-time position of approximately 20 hours per week, with shifts primarily scheduled across weekends, evenings and peak visitor periods.
What you’ll do
Shift Leadership & Visitor Experience
- Act as the lead point of contact during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
- Support Visitor Experience, Retail, Events and IFHC teams across all public-facing areas
- Create a welcoming, engaging and well-organised visitor environment
- Monitor visitor flow and support busy periods, group visits, VIP experiences and public events
- Act as a visible floor leader, engaging with visitors and responding to issues in real time
- Support opening and closing procedures when required
Team Support & Coordination
- Provide on-the-floor guidance, support and direction to frontline teams
- Ensure staffing is coordinated effectively across operational areas
- Lead by example on presentation, professionalism and service standards
- Support onboarding, training and coaching activities where needed
- Foster a positive, collaborative and visitor-focused culture
Operations, Safety & Standards
- Respond calmly and professionally to operational challenges, visitor issues or escalations
- Liaise with Facilities, Security, Tech and Management teams as required
- Ensure all public-facing spaces are operational, safe and presentation-ready
- Support incident response, reporting and emergency procedures when necessary
- Monitor stock levels of operational materials (audio guides, passports, earpieces, etc.) and escalate issues promptly
- Ensure Health & Safety and operational procedures are followed consistently
Commercial Awareness & Continuous Improvement
- Support commercial goals through confident visitor engagement, ticketing awareness and retail promotion
- Assist with operational reporting, handovers and daily updates for management
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, visitor flow and service delivery
- Support implementation of new initiatives, operational plans and company goals
What you bring
Experience
- 2+ years’ experience in a similar visitor-facing, hospitality, events or cultural coordination role
- Previous team leader or shift leadership experience in a fast-paced operational environment
- Experience in museums, tourism, heritage, events or public programming environments is highly desirable
Skills & Strengths
- Warm, confident communicator with strong people and leadership skills
- Calm under pressure with excellent judgement and problem-solving ability
- Organised and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proactive, solutions-focused and comfortable taking ownership during shifts
- Collaborative and supportive team player with strong operational awareness
- Genuine interest in Irish history, emigration, storytelling and public engagement
- Passion for delivering exceptional visitor experiences
