About the Role
~3 min readReporting to the Drill and Blast Engineer, Mine Engineering, the Mine Technician, Survey is responsible for working closely with the engineering and operations teams to provide survey guidance and data collection to support safe and productive mining operations, including the use of UAV’s, GPS data collectors, field staking, and computer design software among others. The position follows a 4x4 day shift schedule.
To be successful, we require someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who works well as an individual and as a team player. This person has strong analytical, logistical, and problem-solving skills, and can prioritize demands in a fast-paced environment.

- Surface data collection with UAV system
- Field staking and manual data collection with GPS data collector
- Maintain As-Built design files for engineering and collect surface UAV scans for monthly reconciliation
- Provide design updates for the digital design guidance systems for mining equipment, such as BenchManager/BenchView for the mine’s shovels
- Participate in cross training with the Drill & Blast Mine Technician (which includes blast pattern design, issuing explosive loading instructions, designing blast pattern timing) to support occasional team coverage
- Once competent in the role, provide survey training to new team members or co-op students
Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 CAD/year
