Your work environment at EXP


In this role, you will be a part of the Transportation team based in any one of EXP locations in Ontario and have the opportunity to build our transportation planning and operational analysis business lines, and to take their career to the next level.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Assist in development and supervision of a team that handles transportation detailed design and planning projects.
  • Prepare preliminary design reports (PDR), design criteria, preliminary and detailed designs associated with new and/or the rehabilitation/modifications of drainage and stormwater management infrastructure.
  • Prepare preliminary designs for CADD staff and review drawings for compliance with applicable industry and client standards.
  • Prepare Contract Specifications, Tender Documents, and Applications for Agency Approvals.
  • Review and issue finalized Shop Drawings.
  • Coordinate and mentor junior staff working within the team.
  • Liaise with Clients, Sub-consultants, Contractors and construction supervision staff. 
  • Assist with the preparation of Proposals for potential projects. 
  • Lead or support Environmental Assessment for municipal transportation projects.
  • Act as a Project Manager for Transportation tasks and projects. 
  • Maintain client communications; prepare technical reports and presentations. 
  • Coordinate internal resources to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and with quality control. 
  • Oversee the assessments and preparation of reports, drawings, etc. by staff.  
  • Attend public/private meetings and make presentations as a representative of EXP and /or our clients. 
  • Assist in business development activities to continue to grow our group. 
  • Assist in hiring of and directly oversee and mentor more junior team members. 
  • Develop and implement internal training, standard practices and QA/QC methodologies. 
  • Make a positive contribution to the overall EXP culture and environment.

 

What your experience looks like

  • Degree in Civil Engineering with 5+ years of related experience, preferably with Ontario Municipal Road and Provincial authorities. 
  • P. Eng. designation with PEO is required. 
  • Experience in supervision, budget management, report preparation, and client relationship management.
  • Emphasis and proficiency with Civil 3D, ArcMap, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PCSWMM, InfoWorks, MIKE, etc. 
  • Strong computer software skills with ProjectWise, Word, Excel & MS Project.
  • Knowledge with MTO and Metrolinx standards, including various Municipal & Regional design and drafting standards.
  • Skilled in cost estimating, quantity preparation and specification writing.
  • Independent, Organized and Motivated Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deliver projects under stringent schedules in a fast-paced turnaround environment.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills, as well as advanced technical writing abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy; and
  • Strong interpersonal skills that focus on meeting customer requirements.

The salary range for this role is between $92,043K-$122,010K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
