Theater Studies Program

Assistant Professor of Acting (tenure-track)

 

The Theater Studies program at Emory University seeks an Assistant Professor of Theater, tenure-track, with a specialization in Acting. The position begins August 1, 2027 and carries a 2-2 teaching load.  Successful candidates for the position will demonstrate experience teaching acting courses at the university level alongside a strong record of impactful creative work in performance.

 

The applicant hired will have expertise teaching Acting for the Camera, Acting Fundamentals, and Advanced Scene Study. We also welcome individuals with experience in Stage Combat, Movement, and Audition Techniques. Additional responsibilities will include advising undergraduate thesis projects, curriculum development, committee service, and mentorship of undergraduate students. Candidates may also direct as part of the production season.

 

Candidates must hold a terminal degree which may include an MFA in Acting or an MFA in Directing/ PhD in Theater with substantial experience teaching acting at the university level.
