Job Summary: 

The Asset Management Specialist is responsible for utilization and cost management of Hub Group’s Dedicated and Intermodal transportation assets, as well as maintenance and repair on Hub Group’s Temperature Controlled fleet.

Essential Job Functions:                                                        

  • Identify, investigate and rebill refrigerated container damage to both the NS and UP per their rules
  • Monitor refrigerated units for repairs / warranty repairs
  • Review and dispute / approve vendor estimates
  • Read, audit, verify and enter both refrigerated and rental invoices for payment
  • After-hours and weekend on-call work related to maintenance and repair on the temperature controlled fleet
  • Oversee daily tasks associated with asset management of Hub’s trailing units at various Intermodal and Dedicated locations
  • Research underutilized equipment and optimize trailing unit cost from utilization perspective for both company owned and rental equipment
  • Execute disposition of unused or underutilized trailing units across the network
  • Serve as a data steward for all trailing units within Hub’s system or the record
  • Work directly with Hub vendors to analyze rental equipment costs 
  • Lead equipment-related projects such as new trailer onboarding, equipment transfers, and new site startups, acting as a liaison between all parties involved including Hub’s operations teams and rental partners
  • Responsible for data coordination and reporting to Finance/Fixed Asset/Tax
  • Complete or assist with miscellaneous projects as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four-year Undergraduate Degree or equivellent professional experience
  • Previous experience in transportation industry preferred
  • High level of task ownership and ability to be highly organized is a must
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with data is a must
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, mathematical, communicational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to perform multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with computers, particularly with MS Excel
  • Self-starter, with the ability to communicate and interface effectively with all levels of personnel, customers and vendors and with the ability to work with minimal supervision
