From Fivetran’s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.

About the Role

Fivetran is looking for a Vice President of Systems Engineering to manage our application systems across the company. This includes the architectural strategy and design, the integration, the configuration and change management, and the operations of those systems. A key responsibility is to ensure the integrations with Fivetran’s Automated Data Movement Platform are of the highest quality, security, and reliability, delivering a superior end-to-end customer experience.

This role reports to Engineering and will be part of the worldwide engineering leadership team. The successful candidate has a proven track record of leading teams that can architect, design, engineer, implement, and operate business systems such as Salesforce, Marketo, NetSuite, and Catalyst, to name a few. The VP of Systems Engineering will also partner closely with sales, marketing, finance, analytics, legal, people operations, support, and R&D to ensure that their business and operational needs are met 24x7.

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in software engineering, engineering leadership, business system architectures, systems management, and operations management, a strong analytical mindset, and the ability to leverage data to drive insights and inform decisions. They will be a technical, strategic, first-principle thinker with exceptional leadership and communication skills, able to motivate and inspire teams to achieve ambitious systems, integration, and reliability goals. As the VP of Systems Engineering, this individual will play a critical role in Fivetran's continued growth and success and will be instrumental in shaping the future of the company's operations.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Oakland, CA office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.

What You’ll Do

    • Set up, document, and enforce an information architecture that clearly defines systems of record, data models, and business rules to digitize our business processes.
    • Deliver a deep integration with Fivetran’s Automated Data Movement Platform that is both robust and resilient to support a world-class end-to-end customer experience.
    • Drive consolidation of applications and systems to significantly simplify our systems portfolio.
  • Business Process Management
    • Manage and grow a team of Business Process and Technical Product Management professionals who collaborate with our stakeholder departments to map out their processes, strategy, and pain points, and turn them into a delivery roadmap.

  • Systems and Operations Management
    • Maintain and expand ownership of core business applications, focusing on the reliability and quality of their configuration and integration of these applications to fully support the customer lifecycle.

    • Take a software engineering approach to release and quality management, ensuring that changes, features, and system upgrades are deployed without disruption.
    • Implement a Data Quality & Data Trust architecture and process that ensures our data adheres to our business rules, eliminating unintended side effects in other systems and processes.
  • Leadership, Team Management, and Collaboration
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Systems Engineering team.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
    • Develop and manage team goals, performance metrics, and professional development plans. Ensure the team has the necessary skills, resources, and technology to support the company’s revenue growth goals.
