Fleetio is looking for a product-minded and team-oriented Senior Software Engineer who is committed to consistently delivering quality software to join our rapidly scaling Marketplace Engineering Team.

Fleetio’s Marketplace is a comprehensive platform that facilitates our customers to easily find and purchase a wide range of products and services essential to their fleet operations. Our shop integrations allow our customers to efficiently manage external maintenance activities and get insight into service data. Our Fleetio Pay solution helps Fleet Managers to efficiently manage service work, and provide simple and hassle-free ways to make payments. We also help vendors keep shop details current and monitor received payments from Fleetio customer transactions all in one place. Learn more about how our shop integrations work here.

In this role on the Marketplace Team you will be responsible for writing maintainable code while implementing new features with an emphasis on connecting customers to maintenance shops, facilitating service, approvals, transactions, billing, and data entry for fleets.

This is a remote opportunity and is open to candidates in the United States, Canada, or Mexico.

You have extensive experience planning, designing, and building marketplace solutions with cross-functional partners such as Product Managers, Designers, and Quality Engineers. Your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others is key to your success. This role is part of the Engineering department and you will report to the Web Engineering Manager.

  • You will take part in planning, designing, and implementing features to build out our Marketplace offering. Helping fleets and shops schedule, complete, and pay for service on the fleet's vehicles and equipment.
  • You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers to consistently deliver high-quality software.
  • You will engage in collaborative design and architecture of features.
  • You will deliver well-tested, maintainable, and performant code.
  • You will research, implement prototypes, and spikes as necessary to validate assumptions and technical feasibility.
  • You will possess a strong voice in the development and planning processes.
  • You will thoroughly review your peers’ code to ensure quality, consistency, and to share knowledge.
  • 7+ years experience as a software engineer
  • 3+ years experience with Ruby on Rails
  • 2+ years experience with ReactJS, Typescript
  • Firm understanding of object-oriented programming and relational databases such as PostgreSQL
  • Expertise with data modeling and optimizing query performance
  • Previous experience with payment systems like Stripe, Brex, etc
  • Solid experience solving challenging architectural problems with good design
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills (particularly written)
