Focused Energy is seeking a Working Student - Control System Support (f/m/d) to join the control-system team within our Laser organization. In this role, you will work directly with our control systems engineers on the practical, hands-on aspects of building and testing the systems that operate our laser platforms. Your responsibilities will include implementation support, testing, debugging, documentation, and following up on issues until they are resolved. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with real experimental hardware and control-system engineering in a company tackling one of the most challenging problems in energy.
Responsibilities

Support the control-system team with implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation of control-system components.

Help investigate issues affecting system progress and follow them through to resolution.

Maintain and improve control-system documentation, test records, interface descriptions, I/O lists, cable schedules, wiring documentation, test procedures, and commissioning records.

Work closely with electrical, mechanical, controls, and laser engineers to bring an instrumentation system for high energy lasers into reliable operation.

Support integration and verification activities for laser-related systems.

Contribute hands-on in a fast-moving, experimental engineering environment.

Proactively flag risks, blockers, and deviations early to your technical lead.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
Have a basic understanding of control systems, automation, electronics, or real-time systems, acquired through coursework or project experience.
Possess some programming experience with Labview, Python, .Net, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar tools.
Able to systematically break down and analyze technical problems.
Comfortable working with technical documentation and open to learning how to use version-control or issue-tracking tools.
Reliable, organized, proactive, and eager to learn in a hands-on environment.
Strong communication skills in English.
