About the Role
~1 min readWe have an exciting opportunity for a Food for Thought Nutritionist to join our team on a 12-month fixed term contract, based in Wellington.
In this role, you’ll deliver the Food for Thought nutrition education programme in primary schools across the Wellington region, with support and occasional travel to the South Island and other regions as needed.
This is a highly autonomous role where you’ll manage your own schedule, working independently while staying connected to a supportive national team of Nutritionists.
You’ll play a key role in empowering tamariki to build knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed food choices for healthier futures.
- Deliver engaging nutrition education sessions and supermarket experiences for primary school students
- Plan and manage your own delivery schedule, travel, and school engagement activities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with schools and supermarket
- Grow the programme by promoting Food for Thought to new schools
- Support PR, communications, and community engagement initiatives
- Collect feedback and contribute to programme evaluation and reporting
- Collaborate with the national team through online meetings and in-person hui
- Contribute ideas, resources, and continuous improvement to support programme success
You’re a qualified Nutritionist who thrives in a self-directed environment and enjoys building strong relationships in community settings.
With a degree in Human Nutrition or Dietetics, along with strong knowledge of nutrition, particularly as it relates to children, you’ll be confident working independently, with the ability to manage your own workload effectively. You will have excellent communication and presentation skills to engage a wide range of audiences.
You’ll also have experience working with schools and/or diverse communities, including Māori and Pacific learners, and bring strong organisation, planning, and relationship-building skills. A flexible approach is essential, including a willingness to travel domestically, along with holding a full NZ driver licence.
